The email template editor gives you a visual guide to creating a template and how it will look to the end recipient. Depending on the Template type it can pull specific information from Alpha like Booking Details, Payments and event Results.
At the top left of the editor you can switch the view between a desktop, tablet and mobile device helping to see how your template is affected by the device the end user may be using. The dimension are only a guide though as every device is different. | ||
This button toggles the boundaries between different elements (or blocks) in the email on or off | ||
This button toggles to Fullscreen editor and back | ||
This button shows the code of the template, which can be useful when exporting a template. | ||
This button allows you to import code from an email template into this template. | ||
This button toggles images in the template on or off, however they will still be shown to the recipient. | ||
This button opens the layer manager for your template which allows you to move elements of your template up or down the template easily. | ||
This Paint brush opens the style editor for the selected object in your template and the gear button opens the settings for the selected object. | ||
This is the Blocks button. The first thing you will need in your template is a block. | ||
Blocks are components that can be added to a template to build the email. Sections separate the email into divisions where you can put other elements into. They help to constrain elements so they always appear on a particular side or place within the email. The will be outlined with a grey dashed line that will not be visible to the email recipient. This boundaries can be toggled on or off as mention previously. |
Once you gave added some sections you can then add some other elements like text or images. These elements are:
Text and Text Section Within text sections you can add compatible data tags to text. Compatible data will tags will be shown above them email editor and can be simply added into the line of text and will be replaced by when the email is generated. E.g. {{customer_full_name}} will be replaced with the customers first name. So your text would be Dear {{customer_full_name}}, which would be sent as Dear John, . | |
Image When you add an image element a pop up will ask you where to source the image. You can upload an image file, use a URL link or select a previously used image. | |
Quote The Quote element places text within its own frame and style separate to the rest of the email text. | |
Divider A divider works just like the section dividers but is visible to the end user. | |
Link, Link Block and Buttons You can use the links (for plain text) or link blocks (which are invisible frames to use with images) which can direct your customers to other places. You do not need to include these for system generated links i.e. Event Registration Links. These will be created automatically into the email in text using the appropriate data tags e.g. {{registration_link}}. Buttons are a similar to links but need to have both style and settings configured to work. | |
Grid and List items These create automatically framed images, title text and description text elements for you to configure. |
Once you have created a block you can configure its style options by clicking the paintbrush at the top of the editor.
An elements Style can include:
· Dimensions on screen
· Typography if it is a text element controls its i.e. font type, size and style (e.g. italics, bold).
· Decorations like background colour or borders
An elements settings can include things like:
· Settings for hyperlinks or buttons
· Alternate text for images
These are not exhaustive lists and depend on the element.
