Registering Tyres with a Scanner

Modified on Tue, 21 Mar 2023 at 11:24 AM

All tyres, chassis and engines, need to be registered and assigned to a competitor.  To do this, tap “Registration” from the Scanning App's home screen.

This will bring up a screen to allow the competitor being scanned to be selected.

A competitor is selected simply by tapping the number buttons to enter their race number. Special buttons will be added for any non-numeric numbers that have entered for the event. Once the number has been entered, tap the confirm button. Alternatively, if drivers have been issued with barcoded passes, and the pass numbers have been entered into the entry system then the driver can be identified by simply scanning their pass.

Next a panel will be displayed showing all drivers whose number matches the one entered.

Note: this panel will always be shown, even if only one driver is found with that number to ensure that the class is checked so that items don’t get recorded against the incorrect driver.

To confirm, tap the entry for the relevant driver.  If the driver is not found, tap edit search and correct the number.  If the driver is still not found, go to the PC application and make sure that the data is up to date by clicking the  button.

If the competitor is still not found, then check the driver list on the PC to see if they have been entered under the wrong number, and change the number as appropriate, or register them on the scanner using the number they have been assigned.

Next the register tyres screen for the selected competitor will appear

Any tyres that have already been registered either at this or a previous event at your club will be shown, along with counts for the number of tyres registered at the current event and for the championship (if championship restrictions apply for this event).

The icon to the left of the barcode shows the type (tyre, chassis or engine ) and if a tyre the number of events that tyre has been used at.  The icon to the right of the barcode shows:

The item has been used at a previous event, but is not registered for this event
The item has been registered for the current event, and is within tyre restrictions
The item has been registered for this event, but exceeds tyre restrictions.

The item was registered for this event, but has been unregistered.

If the location (Front/rear) or types (dry/wet) are NOT being recorded then as soon as the barcode is scanned it will appear at the top of the list.  If, however, the location or type is required, then as soon as the first barcode has been scanned an overlay will appear.

At this point, you can continue to scan tyres of the same type / location and once all similar tyres have been scanned, the register tyres button can be tapped. You will see the barcodes appear at the bottom as they are scanned.

Any issues will be flagged by the barcode going red, with a message below it, for example if that tyre has already been assigned to another driver in that class.

NOTE: the tyres will not be saved until register tyres has been clicked

Once all items have been scanned, tap the Done button.
