Manually Creating an Event

Modified on Wed, 10 Jul at 11:33 AM

This guide explains how to set up an event that is not being imported from the Alpha on-line entry system.

The first step is to click the  New Event  button on the home screen.  This will bring up the create event panel.

Enter the event name and select the start date and time. Next select the track and promoter. Chose whether the event is a championship event, and whether the results should be uploaded to the results website.

Now select the classes to be run.  To do this, chose a class from the selection box and click + Add Class.  Repeat for any other classes being run.

Grouping classes

If two or more classes are to be run together, tick the classes (in the order they should appear on the grid) then click the Group Classes button.

Once grouped, the group type (mixed or split) can be selected, and the group name can be amended (for example to make it shorter). This can be repeated for any other groups. If you've made a mistake, to undo a grouping, click the Split Classes button.

Once all class grouping has been completed, click the Next button.

Class order

Next, set the class running order.  To do this, click o the class code or name and use the arrow buttons to move them up and down.

Class formats

Finally, select the template to use for each class (if applicable). Once all selections are complete, click the Create Event button to create and open the event.

Entering competitors

Click on Competitors to see the competitors screen.

Select a class from the selection box at the top of the screen, then click +New Competitor to add the first competitor. Enter the number, name and any other relevant information then click . Repeat for all competitors for that class, then again for all your other classes.

Note: If a championship was selected when creating the event, all competitors who have competed in the championship will be shown, and you simply need to tick them to add them to the event.

Creating races

If you did not use a Format Template or for events using heats and finals, no sessions will have been created during the import. The Heat grids screen is used to create the sessions and allocate random grid positions.

Please see this Support article on Creating and Regenerating grids in the Timing for instructions on how to create your session using the Grid Generator or the article on Session settings for creating each session manually.

Note: The grids should be generated in the order the classes are to be run to ensure that the sessions are created in the correct order.
