This guide shows you how to collect and show nationality data for your competitors. The flag for their country can be shown on public entry lists as well as on the results.

Collect nationality data

Under Settings > Account > Database, you'll find every field of data that you collect and store for your customers. If 'Nationality' is not already in the list, use these steps to add it:

  1. Clicking the blue '+ New field' button
  2. Select 'Nationality' from the list of special fieds
  3. Set 'Show in profile' to 'yes'
  4. Set 'Required in profile' to 'yes' if you want the nationality to be mandatory
  5. Select every role for which you'd like to collect the data. You must select 'Competitor' at a minimum
  6. Click the blue 'Create Field' at the bottom of the screen

Once these steps are complete and the nationality field is in your database, your customers will be able to see and edit their nationality. New users will be asked to add their nationality when they're registering.

If you need to update the nationality for a person, use these steps:

  1. Navigate to the 'People' section from the navigation on the left
  2. Search for your customer's name
  3. Open their profile
  4. Click the grey 'edit' button
  5. Scroll down to the section titled 'Competitor Info'
  6. Select their country from the dropdown labelled 'Nationality'
  7. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the blue 'Update Customer' button

Show nationality flags

Nationality flags will automatically show on public entry lists, like so:

To add the flag to your results, use these steps:

  1. Open up the timing app
  2. Navigatate to Settings > Promoters
  3. Select your promoter and scroll down to 'Report Settings'
  4. Enable the tickbox labelled 'Show nationality'
  5. Click the 'Save' button at the top of the screen

Once you've enabled this option in the timing app, the next time you issue a result you will see the flags showing for your competitors (if their nationality is set).

If a flag is missing for an individual competitor, check that they have their nationality set in the entry system.
