General Settings

The settings module (gear icon) contains many configuration panels for the timing which can be chosen via the tabs at the top of the page.

In the General settings, you can switch between using the Light theme or the Dark theme.

You can choose when shutting down whether to:

  • always Shut down
  • always leave running
  • or to Ask.

The Timing laptop can be used as the Main Timing PC or be set up to work as a Results PC which connects via the same local network. In the Connection options, you have the option of:

  • always run timing on the PC
  • allow me to select the timing PC

If you want to be able to control the timing from either computer, tick the “Full control when remote” box. For more information please see the Using the Timing app as a Results PC support article.

For decoders where speakers are not connected, you can set the Timing app to "Play passing beep" out of the PC speakers instead.

For Outdoor venues, you have the option to Enable weather to be set when Timing a session(more...)

If you have the Show the clock when idle switch enabled this will show the time of day on any race displays when the timing is not running.

Enable Reset clock when false starting a session if you need the race timer to restart after a false start.

The Show notifications and warnings control allows you to show or hide the notifications and warnings control, useful if you are using the timing app as a results PC.

Show Timing Overview switch sets whether the overview screen can be used.
The use as the main timing view switch chooses which view is used when timing a session. If it's on, when you click time session it will show the passing's screen, and if off it will show the results screen. The update on sectors switch if on, when they cross the S1 line a new lap appears, and it's populated on each sector. it's quite useful if you can't see the track.

You can set the following options on when to start the race timer:

  • First passing,
  • when green flag clicked, or
  • manually clicking the start timer button

Local Alpha Server and Master Timing address should not be adjusted with advice from the Support Team.
