Points Schemes

Modified on Thu, 2 May at 11:01 AM

The Timing system allows you to create various points schemes to use in your events. This can be different schemes depending on the type of event (corporate/club for example) plus different types of point schemes from Heat Points, Championship points, different final points and fastest lap points.

When you create a points scheme, give it a specific name and then define what type of points scheme it is from the following options.

  • Standard - points are issued relative to the drivers finishing position in a race
  • Split by sub class - points are issued relative to the drivers finishing position within their subclass
  • Best lap in race - points are issued relative to the drivers best lap time (fastest to slowest)
  • Grid position  - points are issued relative to the drivers grid position
  • Grid position (by sub class) - points are issued relative to the drivers grid position within their subclass
  • Best lap in race (by sub class) - points are issued relative to the drivers best lap time (fastest to slowest) within their subclass

If the point scheme is no longer required it can be archived and if only members are to be issued points you can set the "Members only score" slider to "Yes".

To set the points, type in the number of points to allocate for the competitor's finishing position. Above the positioning points are some boxes for issuing points to competitors who are excluded, didn't start or didn't finish. Type in the points a competitor should get if classified as finishing as one of those three or leave the box blank to award the usual points for that driver's finished position.

The system can also calculate those points depending on some of the variables listed above

  • [grid] - the number of drivers in the race
  • [cls - the number of drivers in the driver's class (in the whole event)
  • [members] - the total number of members in the driver's class (in the whole event)
  • [pp] - the points for the previous position (so if a driver is 10th this would give the points for 9th)
  • [maxheatgrid] - the number of drivers in the largest heat grid for the driver's class
  • [lastfin] - the points given to the last finished in the race

Finals where drivers are promoted (Repechage/B Finals etc)

If you're using a repechage in a session where points are issued, you'll need to make sure that the number of competitors being promoted are not assigned points for this session's result, as they will be assigned points in the session they are promoted to.

For example, if you are running a B Final where the top 4 are promoted to the A Final, the top 4 positions of a race result should not to be assigned any points. You will need a dedicated B Final points scheme where positions 1-4 have no points awarded. This will then start assigning the points from the 5th place down. Make sure the boxes are blank (as below) and do not set them to zero.

You may need to adjust he B Final points scheme depending on the number of competitors in the A Final to ensure that 5th place is a continuation of the point scheme used for the A Final.

i.e. in the A Final 50 points are awarded for 1st down to 14 points for 34th place, 5th place in the B Final (the first driver not to be promoted) should start at 13 points and so on.
