The Timing has a Championship module where all your Championship tables are stored. Alpha Timing’s championship management is designed to drastically reduce the effort involved in managing championship points. Once a championship has been configured, the points are automatically calculated, including dropped scores, bonus points, abandoned rounds etc. Championships are managed by clicking on the Trophy icon.
The championship points are automatically updated as soon as a session with championship points is issued by the timekeeper. This means that any corrections need to be made by re-opening the relevant round in the timing application, correcting the results and re-issuing them. The most common issue is if a competitor’s membership status is incorrectly set, especially where non-members do not score points.
NOTE: While it is possible to manually over-type a competitor’s score on the championship table screen, or enter scores into empty cells, this should only be used in exceptional circumstances. Correcting the original results is the preferred and recommended method of making corrections. It is not possible to remove a manually input score into an empty cell, only set it to 0
The left hand side of the screen shows a list of configured championships, with the points shown in the remaining screen area. To learn how to create a new championship table, edit an existing table, including creating a new table for a new season (Copy Championship), please see this article on Creating a Championship table.
The points can be printed either to a printer, as an image or PDF document by clicking the Print button. The table can be exported to a spreadsheet, using the Export to excel button.
Unlike race results, championship tables are not automatically uploaded to the results website, as most championship coordinators prefer to check and confirm the points before making them public. Clicking the Upload to web button, will post a copy of the table's standings to the results website.
It is possible to import competitors to a championship table, for example, when switching to Alpha Timing part way through a season, however it is not possible to import the existing scores. Please contact the Support team to discuss this.
There are two different viewing options for the table:
- the default full view, which shows all points scoring sessions
- a compressed view, which will show just the individual rounds and the total scores
- there is also the option to "Show all competitors" which will show any competitor who has competed in a championship scoring session, but not actually scored and points.
The table will show a Penalty column. This can be used to input a score to deduct from a competitor's total and to count score. There is also a Tiebreak column to sort competitors who are tied on points. Place a 1 in the cell to place a competitor as first in a tie break, 2 for 2nd etc. as per your rules.
The table will drop scores, and count scores that cannot be dropped i.e. Disqualifications.
43 - Scores that have been Dropped will be shaded blue
47 - Scores that Must Count will be shaded purple. You can manually set a score to "Must Count" by right clicking the cell.
46 - Scores that have been manually input will be shaded yellow. It is not possible to remove a manually input score from an empty cell, only set it to 0 - we strongly recommend editing the original sessions results.
44 - Rounds that have been abandoned will have the text coloured orange.
