When creating an Event for an Endurance race, where competitors are in team competing with one vehicle, there are several different configurations you will need to use compared to a typical race weekend.
These can include:
- a Team based Entry Form with additional drivers
- an overall event entry maximum
- a specific event number policy
In addition to this, in the timing app you may need to group classes during the import or include multiple qualifying sessions with a race's grid options.
Entry Form
When creating the entry form for the Championship and the Event, you will need to ensure you have set it as a Team Based entry form and include the Team Name field.
Include any other fields as required and then create a new section of the form by clicking the "New Section" button and selecting the Additional Driver(s) Section
If Teams are only permitted to use a certain number of drivers or riders then you can set the minimum and maximum number of additional drivers here.
Click Save to add the section to your entry form. You do not need fields for names or email addresses of additional drivers as they will automatically be included. To learn more about entry forms, please see this support article on the Form Builder.
Event Settings
When creating the event there are two settings useful for Endurance racing.
The Max entries override will help you limit the total number of entries across all classes, in additional to the individual class limits. Typically a circuit will have a maximum number of permitted competitors on track i.e. 40 and using this setting will limit the cumulative total of entries in all classes.
The other useful setting is a Race Number policy. The numbering policy is usually unique for each class, but with Endurance racing, typically all classes will be on track at the same time. Having multiple teams with the same number (albeit different classes) can cause complications or issues with officials and track staff. Therefore in endurance events, it is recommended to use the "Unique across all classes" number policy to avoid confusion.
